Juvederm/ Restylane

Fillers are the number two cosmetic procedure performed worldwide.

Which filler is best for you?

Juvederm, Restylane, and Versa are hyaluronic acid fillers used to instantly improve concerns of volume loss or help enhance natural features. Each product targets different concerns of the face.

Hylauronic acid is a natural substance found in all livings things.  It is commonly found in connective tissues and is hydrophilic, meaning it can help the skin hold water.  Hyaluronic acid fillers are soft and natural in appearance and help to decrease depressions, acting as a cushion to support the overlying skin structures.  Almost any patient is a candidate for these fillers.

After Dr. Gaughf gives a full facial assessment, she can determine the best filler for you.   Dr. Gaughf is an expert injector frequently attending meetings and training courses and will help you decide which filler or combination of fillers is best for you.

  • Voluma/ Restylane Lyft – add volume in the mid face region
  • Volbella  – treats lips and perioral lines
  • Vollure/ Restylane Defyne – help add volume and treat nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Juvederm Ultra XC/ Juvederm Ultra Plus/ Restylane/ Versa – used for lips, nasal labial folds, and marionette lines

A combination of factors such as gravity, smoking, sun exposure, genetics, and environmental factors result in an aging, less youthful appearance.  These contribute to loss of collagen, hyaluronic acid, elasticity, fat production, and suppleness of the skin.

Over time we lose support of the overlying soft tissue caused by shrinking of the bony skeleton.  This causes changes in the shape of the face causing a less youthful appearance.

For some, volume loss can start as early as 30 years old.  Loss of volume causes sunken eyes, flatter cheeks, laugh lines and a heavier jawline making us appear older, tired and even angry.

Replacing volume in the cheeks can restore the more youthful oval shape of the face.

Common Questions and Concerns

What is the difference between Juvederm and Botox?

Juvederm is a filler product to ‘fill in folds, lines or to give volume, and these are injected in the mid to deep dermis.  Botox is injected beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity, which is one of the causes of frown lines between the  brows and crows feet. Both may be used together.

Is treatment painful?

A topical numbing agent may be used to decrease any slight discomfort.  The products contain Lidocaine to help ease discomfort during and post-treatment.  Most patients only report minor discomfort during the procedures.

How long do the results last?

Most of the fillers last approximately one year or slightly longer.   Juvederm Voluma may last up to two years, depending on the number of treatments before  desired results are achieved.

Vollure results may last up to 18 months.  Results may vary.

There will be a $50 consultation fee that may be applied to any medical aesthetic treatment on the same day or in the future.

RADIESSE®

Radiesse is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier.  Once injected, it provides immediate volume and correction but continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen.  Over time, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the microspheres leaving behind only your own collagen. It is used to restore volume in the cheeks and marionette lines.  Radiesse is clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients.
